The Bordeaux Coding Workshop has taken place on November 22, 2010. It has included representatives from Belgium, Italy, Spain and the US, plus several younger or future members of the French Team.
Apart of drinking good wine and having fancy dinners, it had two complementary objectives. First, the idea was to bring the idea of automatic coding and the use of Texttools closer to the teams that have not yet been working with it. Hence, apart from presentations, hands-on sessions were devoted to effective learning of the Texttools software. Second, we wanted to have a debate on the future of automatic coding and the opportunity of adopting a collective strategy with regard to the further development of automatic coding tools.
The workshop clearly was a great success on all three fronts (food and drink, learning, strategy). A final statement concerning the future of automatic coding will be circulated shortly to other members of the Agendas community for consideration and discussion.
You may download the presentation on the French experience with Texttools here. The slides on automatic coding of the French newspaper Le Monde can be downloaded here.
For any questions related to the workshop do not hesitate to contact us (link below).
